I actually spoke to him a bit about this last night! :)

Keep in mind, when I was younger I was best friends with Severus Snape and I’ve always been a loyal type of girl so I’d never turn my back on a friend. And while James was a bullying toerag, he generally wasn’t terrible in all his pranks (certainly not how I made him out to be at times) and he could be very, well…charming.

So, yes. I did fancy James for a bit before we started dating. But a sense of loyalty and dislike on principal (and not wanting to give into his rather spoilt ways) kept me from really acting on it or even really wanting to.
